Dr. Jason A. Bulgin, Sr.

Dr. Jason Anthony Joseph Bulgin, Sr., born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a distinguished figure in Christian ministry and leadership. As the second child of Pastor Joseph A. Bulgin and Grace Patricia Bulgin, Jason grew up in an environment deeply rooted in faith. His upbringing cultivated within him a passion for spiritual growth and a desire to serve others.
Jason's educational journey began at Crawford Adventist Academy in Toronto, where his leadership potential and love for learning first began to blossom. Seeking to further his education, he attended Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where he majored in Elementary Education. It was during this time, as he walked the campus of Oakwood, that Jason experienced a profound moment of spiritual transformation. Feeling a strong divine presence, he sensed an undeniable call from God to dedicate his life to ministry. This defining moment solidified his purpose and set him on a path of pursuing ministry with fervor and intentionality.

Jason's calling led him to complete his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, yet his thirst for deeper understanding and leadership in the church continued to grow. He furthered his theological education by earning a Master of Christian Ministry, where he gained insights into the complexities of modern ministry and evangelism. Ultimately, his academic and spiritual journey culminated in his attainment of a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Organizational Leadership. His doctoral research focused on one of the most pressing issues facing the Seventh-day Adventist Church—understanding the trends of denominational decline among black emerging adults and seeking strategies to address these challenges.

Dr. Bulgin’s ministry career has been a tapestry of diverse roles and experiences that have shaped him into a dynamic leader. He began his ministry as Minister of Music for churches in both Alabama and Ohio. His musical background, combined with his theological training, allowed him to craft worship experiences that resonated deeply with congregations. As his ministry evolved, Jason's leadership abilities were further recognized when he transitioned into pastoral roles, serving in churches across various cities. These roles ranged from Associate Pastor to Lead Pastor, allowing him to work closely with congregations, fostering growth, unity, and spiritual revival.

In his current role as Senior Pastor at Capitol City Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sacramento, California, Jason continues to inspire and guide his congregation with his powerful messages, leadership, and vision for the church. His ability to connect with people across generations has made him a trusted and impactful leader.

Beyond his pastoral responsibilities, Dr. Bulgin is also an accomplished author and leadership coach. His books, such as 25 and Counting: A Guide to Journaling and Reflection and Quitting Will Get You There Quicker: The Art of Strategic Quitting, reflect his deep belief in the power of reflection, intentionality, and strategic decision-making. As a certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach, Jason has further extended his reach by mentoring and developing future leaders, demonstrating his commitment to not only leading but empowering others to do the same.

In his personal life, Jason has been blessed with a loving family. He is married to Jessica Delana Ellis, and together they are the proud parents of four children: Jordyn Naomi, Sabrena Janae, Joseph Delano, and Jason Jr. His love for his family is central to his life, and he balances his roles as a pastor, leader, and father with grace and dedication. Jason’s interests outside of ministry include writing and composing music, engaging in outdoor sports, and reading—pursuits that continue to fuel his creativity and passion for life.

Dr. Bulgin's life exemplifies the power of faith, education, and leadership to create meaningful change within the church and beyond. His journey, marked by a clear call to ministry during his college years, continues to inspire those around him as he dedicates his life to advancing the mission of Christ, nurturing future leaders, and serving his community with compassion and wisdom.
